The Fix is now open on Grove Street in Worcester, MA
Just a few short months after the original Mezcal Tequila Cantina moved to it’s new location, Más Mezcal, Niche Hospitality hadn’t missed a beat in turning the space into a concept that is popular in west coast metropolitan cities but is new to Worcester. The Fix Burger Bar opened its doors on May 1, 2014 at their original Shrewsbury Street location, before relocating to its existing spot on Grove street. with a dedicated focus on one of America’s classics: burgers.
What makes this burger eatery different then what most consider a “restaurant serving burgers” is its focus on two blends of grinds: a butcher blend and natural blend that the patron can choose from. The Pat LaFrieda meat purveyors out of New York create the hand formed, loose burger grind made from meats that are from grass-fed, all natural sources. In addition to the changing burger meat styles, the vegetarian option—made with a roasted cauliflower and chick peas combo—is made with the same artisan attention to detail. The breads are made by Calise & Sons Bakery out of Rhode Island and consist of brioche, sesame seed buns, and the ever popular pretzel roll.
Like the other Niche restaurants, the menu constantly reinvents itself based on simple economics: if diners love one of the chef’s specials you may see a permanent spot for it on the menu. The man behind this, is Chef Michael Muscarella.
What makes The Fix Burger Bar stand out from upscale west coast favorites, however, is its attention to craft drinks: all soda syrups are made in-house (bottled Pepsi products will be available in “throw back” bottles) and served from a soda fountain. There will be craft beers on draft—four featured and four rotating—along with local selections and hand selection of canned favorites like, Schlitz, PRB, Bud, and Narragansett. In addition, and perhaps most exciting, is the milkshakes paying homage to the “shake” with classic flavors, shaken of course, with the option to have them spiked.
The Fix Burger Bar fills a void that Worcester didn’t even know it had. The hand crafted artisan burgers paired with either old school soda or milkshake will leave the diner feeling satisfied from both the consumables and the atmosphere.
